Edibles come in many different shapes and sizes but typically refer to foods that are converted into edible forms for consumption. Edible oils become the base of these products and often pack more potency than the dried plant matter of other types of cannabis. Edibles are made from a wide variety of foods, from bread to candies and chocolates, but one of the most popular forms of edibles is the gummy bear.
These gummies often contain anywhere between 100mg and 1000 mg Edibles Gummies, often in the form of cannabidiol (CBD), which can help offset some of the negative side effects such as anxiety or paranoia.
While we don't want to be gummy bears (get it?), we can walk you through the process of finding out how much THC there is in your own gummy bears.
First, let's look at what makes up a gummy bear. Gummy bears are typically made from gelatin, which is derived from collagen found in animal skin, bones, and tendons.
Next, we need to understand how to check the THC potency in the gummy bears. THC potency is measured within the cannabis plant in a unit called milligrams (mg). Most edible products are labeled with the total mg of THC, CBD, and/or other cannabinoids that you can find in that product.
This is usually listed as a "total cannabinoid profile," rather than listing each THC, CBD, or other cannabinoid individually. For example, if a gummy bear has 1000mg of THC, 100mg of CBD, and 100mg of CBG, it would have a total cannabinoid profile of 100mg of THC, 1000 mg CBD, and 400 mg CBG. Each of these cannabinoids is listed individually as well, so it is not necessary to use the total profile on the product label to determine your potency. The amount of THC in a gummy bear is a direct result of how much gelatin used per batch and also how much THC is added to each batch. Each dose from these gummies is going to be 100% potency. A gummy bear with 0mg of THC, 100mg of CBD and 100mg of CBG would have a total cannabinoid profile of 0mg of THC, 200 mg CBD and 100 mg CBG. This is just another way to compare different products. We know that is a lot of information to absorb, but it is important to keep in mind that these are the measurements for the edible product and the edible product contains an edible. These measurements do not necessarily reflect your experience when consuming a gummy bear.
